Thank you for visiting our web site!

This site began as a page on a single Sargent painting (El Jaleo) in 1997. In 1999 it sprouted other pages and turned into a general project on Sargent's art, with Teej supplying a wonderful essay overview (here).*

Since then the site has continued to evolve, with more information being added periodically, and principally, the link section being improved. The popularity of this taciturn Victorian, quasi-american expatriate continues to rise, and the internet is becoming the home to more and more information. How much of this is worthwhile is for the reader to judge.

This site originally prepared using Adobe Pagemill on a Macintosh Quadra 610. More recent versions maintained using Macromedia Dreamweaver and a combination of Apple iMac and eMacs.

*(Funny thing about that essay are the very strong comments some viewers send in - - one woman basically assailed Teej for all kinds of crimes against humanity - women in particular - and through some error on her part carried on a general verbal assault with the wrong idea that Teej is a man. Another outrage is Teej's listing of Sargent with Winslow Homer, Georgia O'Keefe and - - horrors - Tadema. Doesn't Teej know that's not allowed? Whole art schools would be expelled at the idea.)
